Thank You Service Members

Freebies at the studio come more than you may think! I wish I could offer my art for free all the time but free unfortunately does not pay the bills or keep the studio open. I do offer freebies when I am able and I try to do them for a purpose. For instance, we just had memorial weekend and a way to say thank you for Memorial Day I wanted to invite military families out for a freebie session of their families to cherish and love for years to come. Here is why.....

Family is some thing we all have either our birth family or the family we create or take in under our wing or who we befriend and become life long friends with. Family is something I believe in deep down to my core. So much I have taken for granted in my younger years and I know that some times a portrait may be all we have to hold dear of a family member to remember the love the happiness and the unity.

I met and married my husband and realized very quickly that the meaning of family and love that I knew changed and the meaning of these two things was a deeper meaning than I will have ever known. We married 3 short months after knowing each other (quick I know, but I would not have it any other way and this July is year 5) and 3 short months later he was deployed on his first deployment. I only had one photo of us and our daughter together and I held to that dearly and loved it and as soon as he got back we had more so I could have something to look at when we were not together, either in the same state because he is out training again for deployment or same country because he is away fighting for our nation. These moments show me how much a portrait can mean and I wanted to give this to military families and allow them the chance to come out and have a portrait they too could have through these times.

Our armed forces means so much to me and my family. I grew up ignorant to the military and unknowing of what they truly did and do for us. As we spent the holiday weekend remembering those who have given their ultimate sacrifice we wanted to give to the people currently serving. I am not great with words and saying thank you seems odd to just say thank you and move about my day because that does not show how much I truly appreciate someone; but to say thank you and create for someone made more sense to me.

As I told many before there are only two ways I know how to say thank you to someone, I can cook a good meal for you or I can take your photo. I am so honored to have been able to meet four wonderful families and will be working on many photos for them this week! I cannot express in words to describe how thankful I am to everyone in uniform and your families and all that you do but in the way of actions I will be offering these every year to new families to give back. I look forward to meeting and thanking many many new families to come!

BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHY

BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHY
2014

Hi Guys and Gals! Boudoir is such a beautiful genre of photography, don't be scared to dive in and give it a go! I have so many clients and friends who say the following:
"I cannot do it, I am too fat"
"Only size 2, hot women can do it"
"I do not like to be photographed" or "I do not photograph well"

Okay please... STOP IT NOW!

Everyone is gorgeous, Boudoir in itself means, 'Woman's boudoir and or Private room'. These photos are sexy photos for ANY WOMAN, not one size, not one color, not one age, not one what ever. ALL WOMEN.

SIDE NOTE: NEVER come into a session DRUNK or super fearful.. it will show in your photos.

How to go about boudoir??
FIRST: Find a photographer who's style you appreciate, enjoy and think you would like. If you do not like what they offer, do not waste your time or money because you will not like your photo. If you like a more dark style, find a photographer that does that, if you like a light and fluffy style do it.

PRICE: Now here is one... If you pick someone based on their prices that is your fail. ONLY BASE THIS DECISION ON THEIR TALENT NOT THEIR PRICE! If they are too pricey and you know you want them, ask if they run discounts, offer payment plans or etc. Just because someone is free or cheap does not mean anything.

How to Prepare???
Find a mirror... Yes.. do it. FIND IT! Also find yourself a magazine like VOGUE or VICTORIA SECRET type... If you want to make those sexy pouty faces... most of us cannot gracefully do that naturally. Use that magazine and that mirror and practice your facial expressions in the mirror.
Find poses you may want to do or recreate, save them either on your phone, pick a photographer that knows what they are doing and that can guide you through your whole session start to finish!

HAIR AND MAKEUP:
Now, unless you know how to do it, my advice is find someone to do it for you for the session. You are investing in these sexy photos either for you or for someone to enjoy, take the time to get all ready and prepared. Some studios have packages to include it, see if you like the work included, if you do, GO FOR IT. Do not be lazy and tell the photographer to "edit on the make up" take the time to get pampered and feeling taken care of and gorgeously glamorous for your session!

LINGERIE:
PLEASE if you need help deciding ask your photographer!!! Not all lingerie looks great on all body types.
When in doubt a corset is amazing and so are bra panty sets! ALSO don't forget your heels!!

What about a party or a girls night??
Some Photographers offer parties for you and your friends to come together. It is a fun way to hang out with the ladies, get pampered and have fun together!!

Maternity Sessions

Choosing the right photographer is something that you have to do. Every photographer has their own style and their own way of taking a photograph. When checking for a photographer, it is like checking out a tattoo artist, you want to check out their work. If you like their style and what they can offer then they could be the right one for you. If you are hesitant about the work they produce then they may not be the right guy and or gal for you. When paying for a photographer you are paying for their "style" their "artistry", So be sure that is what or you may be disappointed in the end result.
Share Ideas with your photographer, As much as we wish we could read minds, we unfortunately cannot. Tell us exactly what you would like and we can tell you if we think we can make that happen or not. Recreating images is great, but in the end we would like to make it our own so we may tweak it a bit.
When preparing for your session, remember, this is YOUR session, If you are wanting a specific style make it clear. If you are not sure what colors to wear and what not ASK YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER. If they are unsure here is a great tid bit I found and I send my clients, it is from "Laska Project"

Now, when to schedule, that is completely deciding on when and what you are wanting to capture. If you are wanting to do the whole shabang and capture from start to end and the gender reveal and all, book as soon as you are confirmed with your pregnancy and talk to your photographer and see if they offer a package for the months ahead. If you are looking to just do the end finally book between 37-39 weeks so you have a perfectly round tummy to show off in your photographs.
TIGHT CLOTHING MOMMAS! If you want to show off that belly tight tight t-shirts and tanks and or dresses that curve to the belly. Skirts and pants what ever you would like is fine but remember if you want to reveal your curve then where something tight.

Do you have questions about anything in here or would you like something else addressed?? Just comment and or write me at elizabethreneephotography@gmail.com for the next topic you have in mind!!

Have a beautiful day!!

My Trip To Colorado Springs

I will be heading to Colorado Springs for the weekend to do a super fun Boudoir Marathon. We had one other Boudoir Marathon in the Springs this year early in Spring but this time I am flying out to accomplish it. I was living there when we did it last so it wasn't nearly as hectic but it was still fun!

If you are in the springs or you plan on visiting the springs I'm telling you now... you have to stay at The Academy Hotel. They are amazing. Their staff is awesome, they have a heated pool, and their breakfasts in the morning are literally to die for... I love it so much. If you have the extra cash to spend stay in their Jacuzzi Suite, this is where we hold the fun every time! Every fall/winter they run "Romance" deals that make the room cheaper and you can get champagne and choc covered strawberries delivered to your room. (This trip it is just me traveling so no romance package needed ;) )
